The failure to predict and address our current global financial problems could be directly attributed to poor leadership. It was bad and unprincipled leadership that brought us to the dismal situation we are in now. Fortunately, it will be good and principled leadership that can get us back on track again.
This book discusses how an enlightened leadership can steer the course of an organization to path that it wants to be in. Although its primary focus would be for people who are involved in corporate change, it could also benefit people who are involved in all kinds of organizations, large or small. The concepts of leadership and its use in managing any kind of change would be useful for the CEO, the manager, owners of businesses, leaders in society, and for the student in change management.
This book is patterned after my earlier book, Corporate Turnaround: Nursing a Sick Company Back to Health. This book describes a corporate turnaround as having three phases: surgery, resuscitation, and nursing. Unlike my corporate turnaround book which describes the methodology for making a corporate turnaround, this book is about managing change and the leadership necessary to bring about that change.
While we experience change all the time, we have the choice to just let fate bring us wherever it pleases. We also have the choice to set our sights to a goal and make the necessary changes so that we can achieve that goal.
It is not easy to steer an organization and move it to where we want it to be unless we are able to influence that organization so that it moves as one towards its goal. That brings us to purpose of this book: how to use leadership concepts to help us steer our respective organizations so that we can achieve success.
People who lead and influence groups would learn from this book. While you may perhaps already know the various ways of leading and influencing groups, this book can serve as a catalyst of what you already know. It will help you organize ways of addressing challenges so that change can be achieved in a more organized manner.
