Philadelphia is known as The City of Brotherly Love. It is the fifth most populous city in the United States, with a population of around 1.5 million. It is also the largest in the State of Pennsylvania, and the second-largest city on the East Coast, serving as a major commercial, education, and cultural center.

Philadelphia's economy is primarily dependent on manufacturing, refining, food, and financial services. Philly once served as the capital of the United States, before the construction of Washington, D.C. The federal government still has a large presence there, as the East Coast operations of the United States Mint are based near the historic district.

The current median home price for the Philadelphia metro area is $218,000 which is close to the national median price of $217,900. North Philadelphia is divided into several neighborhoods and is dominated by different ethnicities such as Latino, African-American, and European communities. The neighborhoods and the city can be characterized by a diverse selection of living arrangements ranging from brick row homes, loft-style apartments, large brownstones, and town homes.

While home ownership is fairly high, a large number of residents prefer to rent apartments managed by professional companies because of the flexibility it affords. They are a little on the pricey side, but are perfect for someone who is only going to be in the city a brief period of time.

AIMCO is probably one of the largest property companies in Philadelphia. With towers of apartments in various desirable locations throughout the city, one cannot really go wrong in renting one of their units.

This website is perfect for someone who doesnt mind bunking with a complete stranger. Typically, you will find rooms for rent on this website, as opposed to actual full units.

Craigslist.org also offers a wide selection of properties. From houses to efficiency apartments, if you can take the time to sort through the number of properties listed on this website, you are bound to find a deal. Just understand that most of the listings will be from private individuals, not actual property companies.
